First of all, I apologize if this is off topic for this newsgroup.

I have some questions pertaining to commercial software licensing and
it would be nice to have some answers. Needless to say, the software
is for personal and non-commercial use.

Q1) Can I install legally purchased software like Adobe Acrobat,
Quicken etc. on multiple computers at home?

Q1a) What about MS Office? Does the answer to #1 above apply to MS-
Office as well?

Q2) Do I need to inform the software vendor if I upgrade to a new
machine?

Thanks in advance,

Nimmi

It depends, what do the licenses say?

Thanks in advance,
No thanks necessary, but since I don't own any of the software
mentioned, and IANAL, I can't answer that for you. However, reading the
license document will tell you exactly what you are asking.

I have personally seen several "types" of commercial licenses, from
"Once you install it, you can never install it anywhere else," to "You
can install it anywhere, but only one person can use it at any given
instant", to "Install it and use it anywhere, as long as you are the
only user".
