Following on from the Peer-to-Patent project run out of NYLS comes
Peer-to-Patent Australia.

There are a number of software patents for peer review on the Peer-to-
Patent Australia website. For example:

Method and apparatus for run-time incorporation of domain data
configuration changes
http://www.peertopatent.org.au/patent/2005326766/activity

A software management system and method
http://www.peertopatent.org.au/patent/2009200584/activity

Method and system for integrating browsing histories with media
playlists
http://www.peertopatent.org.au/patent/2005263189/activity

Binary representation of number based on processor word size
http://www.peertopatent.org.au/patent/2005218001/activity

Peer-to-Patent Australia facilitates crowd sourcing to allow members
of the public to play a role in the examination of business method and
computer software patents. The project allows members of the public to
review pending patent applications and submit any prior art they think
is relevant. That prior art will be submitted to the patent office and
used in the examination of the patent.

PEER-TO-PATENT AUSTRALIA NEARS HALF-WAY POINT

Peer-to-Patent Australia is a joint initiative of the Queensland
University of Technology (QUT) and IP Australia designed to improve
the patent examination process and the quality of issued patents by
encouraging members of the public to contribute to the search for
prior art. The pilot has made a successful start, following its launch
in December 2009. The community of reviewers has identified 40 prior
art references and contributed 63 comments in the first 10 weeks of
operation.

There are now only two weeks until the end of the first phase of the
pilot. This means that the applications currently open for peer review
will only be available for another two weeks.

Once the first phase of the project is complete, a second phase will
commence, bringing a new set of patent applications to be peer
reviewed.

QUT and IP Australia invite appropriately qualified people to
contribute to the project. Members of the public are encouraged to
join the online peer community to review the patent applications and
put forward relevant prior art.

To register as a peer reviewer, visit the Peer-to-Patent Australia
website at www.peertopatent.org.au.
